Tom Hanks and RIta Wilson are often touted as two of the most wholesome celebrities in the world, and here’s more proof. The Elvis star’s son, Colin Hanks, just revealed that his parents can be a bit naughty when they get into grandparent mode — in the most innocent way, of course.
Colin made an appearance on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna and talked about what happens when his two daughters, Olivia, 11, and Charlotte, 9, whom he shares with wife Samantha Bryant, spend some time with Grandpa and Grandma.
“They’re okay,” he laughed when asked if his parents make good grandparents. “It would be great if they paid attention to the kids’ bedtime. You know, actually cooked food that the kids will eat. No, they’re fine, they’re great,” he joked, sounding so much like his father.
“[They give them] a lot of sugar… [It’s] a lot of not necessarily paying attention to the schedule,” he added. Hey, it’s a rite of grandparent passage to load up your grandkids on sweets and send them back to their parents before a meltdown ensues!
“The only thing that’s missing, they need like good ugly sweater vests. If they both had those and just some glasses and complained about the temperature, I think we’d be good,” he concluded.
Back in 2019, Colin revealed that his kids didn’t even realize their grandpa is a celebrity. “[It’s just] like every other playdate with a grandparent. The grandparent gives them stuff they shouldn’t be having, and the grandparents don’t listen to what the parents are saying they should be doing,” Colin explained of his kids’ view of Tom.
