Sarah Hyland Used a $4 Eye Shadow Palette for Her Golden Globes Look

Just because this year's 78th Golden Globe Awards are socially distanced doesn't mean folks aren't excited for an opportunity to dress up. The stars are still very much putting on their gowns, calling in their hair and makeup magicians to (safely) get them all gussied up to film from home… or wherever they are in the world. (Gillian Anderson streamed her red carpet interview with Giuliana Rancic from a hotel in Prague!)

One of the early "red carpet" reveals comes from Sarah Hyland, who recently dyed her hair red. On Sunday night, the actor decided to wear a dress to match her new hue. Clad in a fire engine-hued Monique Lhuillier off-the-shoulder gown with a sweetheart neckline, Hyland served us a series of poses outside of the Beverly Hilton, which she promptly posted to Instagram.

On the beauty tip, it looks like she decided to keep everything else relatively simple to really let her outfit shine. Her hair was styled by Ryan Richman into loose waves that flowed down her back. To create the look, he broke out a stash of OGX products, like the brand's Protecting + Silk Blowout Thermal Primer Cream before blow-drying with the GHD Helios dryer, then hitting it with some Renewing + Argan Oil of Morocco Voluminous Mousse.  After using the GHD Max Styler at the roots and the brand's Curve Soft Curl Iron on the mids to ends, he sprayed on the OGX Smoothing + Shea Sleek Humidity Blocking Hairspray to keep that glorious texture in place.

As for makeup, Hyland kept that pretty neutral, which complemented the dress spectacularly. But while yeah, her outfit is fancy, the actual makeup products she used are decidedly not — yet another testament to how you can turn out a red carpet-ready look with makeup you got from the drugstore.

For the show, Hyland is wearing a full face of E.L.F. products, several of which are poppin' right now on TikTok. Her makeup artist Allen Avendaño used the brand's Camo CC Cream and Hydrating Camo Concealer for the base, then set it with the Matte Setting Powder. Gracing her cheeks is the $3 Bite-Size Face Duo in Lychee, which includes a highlighter and a blush. It does not get any better than that.

Just kidding — it totally does. Her eye shadow look is a mixture of a few from the brand, all coming in at $5 or less. After priming with the Putty Eye Primer in Rose, Avendaño used a combination of the Mint Melt Eyeshadow Sticks in Ice Crème and Melt With Me, along with the brand's 4-shadow Chocolate Mint palette, which just so happens to be a smooth $4. That's a dollar a shadow, folks.

Avendaño finished off the look with the Lash It Loud Mascara and Sheer Slick Lipstick in Golden Pear. In all, as the kind folks as E.L.F. pointed out to us in an email, the whole makeup look was 66 bucks — which, let's be real, is the amount many of us have paid for a single eyeshadow palette in the past.

Being someone who is both bougie and on a budget, this makeup look is speaking to my soul. We're all expecting a ton of stunning makeup looks tonight, but let's just say our inner drugstore divas are squealing with delight at what Avendaño served up on a dime tonight.
