Rapper and model Chynna Rogers died at her home in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Chynna was 25. Her manager John Miller confirmed the news of her passing to People. The cause of her death is unknown. “Chynna was deeply loved and will be sorely missed,” according to a statement the young rapper’s family provided to the publication.

Chynna was born in West Philadelphia and aspired to work in the music industry. When she was 14, Chynna started modeling and signed with Ford Models, per Pitchfork. A rep discovered her at New Jersey’s Six Flags Great Adventure. She starred in a DKNY advertising campaign and walked in the brand’s runway show.

Chynna transitioned to hip hop music with A$AP Yams as a mentor and help from A$AP Mob.“I didn’t know the word ‘intern’ yet, but I was like, ‘Do you want someone to follow you around?’” she told Pitchfork of her initial connection with A$AP Yams. The up-and-coming rapper released her hit track “Selfie” in 2013 and followed it up with “Glen Coco” in 2014.

The A$AP Mob shared a tribute to Chynna on Twitter: “REST EASY CHYNNA. WE GON MISS U SIS.”

In early 2016, Chynna struggled with opiate drug addiction. Chynna emerged from rehab sober, and she included details of her experience in the six-track mixtrape Ninety.

“I realized I didn’t have control of the situation anymore the day that I didn’t even feel like getting high… It got to the point where I had to do something just to be able to get onstage and do my job. I didn’t like that. That was taking it too far, because it stops being fun and starts being because you have to, and that’s when you need to chill,” she told Pitchfork.
