Emily Blunt is a fashion icon, versatile movie star, and mother of two. The British actress recently graced the cover of the July/August 2023 issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK — looking ethereal in a field of flowers! — and she opened up about the part of motherhood that is the most important to her.

Emily Blunt Won’t Compromise on Time With Her Daughters
Blunt shares daughters Hazel, 9, and Violet, 7, with her actor and director husband John Krasinski. They’ve been living in Brooklyn since 2016, which she calls “almost like being on Sesame Street!” because she has so many close friends nearby. But the most important thing for her? Being close to her kids.
The Oppenheimer star revealed that her priority is carving out time in her busy schedule for her daughters, and it’s such an inspiration. “Because even though they’re hardy, and they’re used to this strange life, it’s still rough on them when I have to go away,” she told the outlet, adding that she is never away from them for more than two weeks at a time.
“There are cornerstones of the girls’ day that I don’t want to compromise on – like, will you wake me up, take me to school, pick me up and put me to bed?” she said. “And I just want to be able to say, yes, yes, yes. It’s such an exhale for me to be able to do that.”
It’s gotta be hard to keep a routine for your kids when you are jet-setting around the world to film movies, but Blunt knows what’s important to her and she follows through, which is so admirable.

Emily Blunt’s Daughters Just Want to Be With Her
And her daughters notice. They don’t care about mom’s success — they just want their mom to hang out with them.
“When I see myself up on a billboard, I have this complete dissociation with it… I’m like, who’s that? And I can see my children doing the same – they might say, oh, there’s Mama, but it’s not exciting for them,” Blunt told Harper’s Bazaar. “What’s exciting for them is when I can pick them up from school and take them swimming.”
And isn’t that such a good reminder for all moms? That’s what are kids crave from us most of all — literally just to be there with them.

Emily Blunt’s Roles Are Inspiring to Women Everywhere
As her daughters grow, they’ll come to appreciate their mom’s work a little more. Especially because Blunt is drawn to such amazing roles.
“I get irritated when I’m told, ‘She’s a badass’ – that’s not interesting to me because that’s not real life,” Blunt told Harper’s Bazaar about the characters she plays. “What I like is that sense of a fish out of water, someone who’s struggling, who’s haphazardly clawing their way out.”
“Women are heroic when they’re in way over their heads,” she adds.
Which, TBH, feels like motherhood every day. And Blunt is just consistently proving that she is a fabulous role model for her little girls — and for us.
