Ajax is a recent graduate of the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center (BRC) who needs your help to find a loving home!
Ajax is a big boy with an even bigger heart. He was first rescued from a hoarding situation in South Carolina before he was transferred to the BRC when impending Storm Isaias threatened local shelters.
Fearful Ajax received treatment and began to learn that unfamiliar people, objects and sounds aren’t as scary as he thought. In his time at the BRC he’s won the hearts of our staff. After making tremendous progress in our care, Ajax graduated from the program in January 2021, and is still looking for a devoted family to call his own.
Ajax likes to spend his days lying next to his favorite people and climbing in their laps for attention. He may be nervous at first, but if you have some cheese or a tennis ball, he will quickly become your best friend. This sweet boy loves yummy treats, scratches around his neck, playing fetch and soft blankets or dog beds.
Ajax has overcome most of his fearful behavior and has learned to walk properly on a leash and interact calmly with new people. He’s also learned to love playing with people and dogs he is comfortable with and started to get the hang of crate training!
He is a loveable boy and is now ready for adoption, but he would also benefit from time in a foster home until he finds an adoptive family. Ajax can be the only dog in the home but would also enjoy a mature, social canine sibling who won’t play too rough with him.
