Matcha green tea is a bright green powder made from the ground-up leaves of the camellia sinensis plant, which is the same plant that regular green tea comes from. The green tea has been linked to a host of health benefits, which include boosting your mood. Speaking on ITV’s This Morning, nutrition expert Liz Earle made a strong case for swapping out your daily cup of tea or coffee for matcha.

As Earle explained, matcha tea is contains micronutrients called polyphenols that are loaded with antioxidants.

Antioxidants have been found to improve the symptoms associated with anxiety.

What’s more, matcha tea contains an amino acid called theanine that reduces anxiety and stress.

High contents of theanine in matcha have been shown to exhibit a high stress-reducing effect.
